Strength Coaching FAQs
Does it matter if I haven’t used weights before?
Certainly not! It’s the main reason for us doing it. We want to introduce people to using free weights so they can feel confident to do it on their own.
I won’t be able to lift the bar…let alone any weight! How can you help me?
That really doesn’t matter, we have a range of smaller hand held weights to get you confident with form before progressing to heavier weights if that is something you want to do
Are you opening a gym?
No. All sessions are 1:1 for coaching purposes.
How old do I have to be?
There is no upper limit and sensibly you could start lifting weights from around 10years old.
I already go to a gym does that matter?
Not at all…you won’t be joining another gym. Hopefully we can give you the tools to use your current gym to a greater extent!
How many sessions will I need?
This depends. We are doing one-off sessions for people wanting an introduction or a course of 6 sessions for those who want to really get to grips with it before heading out on their own.
I have arthritis, does this matter?
With careful handling, improving the strength around a a joint can dramatically improve the symptoms of arthritis. It certainly shouldn’t prevent you from strengthening other joints. Also as arthritis is a whole body inflammatory condition we can look at other ways to improve it.
Will it hurt?
The aim is to build strength and confidence…not to beast you. Everything is done within a range in which you are comfortable and safe.
How can I make sure I won’t bulk up?
It takes most people years of training to develop excessive muscle and that is if they are really trying to! We can set a program that means you get strong without adding weight or bulk to your frame.
